I took part in this initiative because addiction is a very common occurrence in today’s youth, and I would like to spread awareness and possibly help in its prevention and cure. During these last four months of quarantine, the addiction rates have skyrocketed worldwide with people not being able to cope with isolation and loneliness; therefore I feel like it is imperative to speak out about this topic.

I think depression and suicide are pressing issues, especially in today’s world where people are greatly influenced by social and mainstream media, both of which either set impossible standards or drive our negative emotions. Depression has become a trend in today’s society and it isn’t taken as seriously as it should be. Therefore, I want to use my art to inspire beauty and positivity and do whatever I can to help people purge negative/ suicidal thoughts through AWTL.
