I Know A Girl;

I know a girl; she smiles so bright but wears a heavy mask,

Covers her body to hide her bones and scars.

She is lively and merry and oh so pretty.

But no one ever notices her eyes,

Her eyes speak the truth she hides,

They are dull and filled with pain but no one really notices it.

She has dark circles and bloodshot eyes from her nightmares,

But people think she is just being a good student.

Not even the ones she calls friends see her pain,

She is all alone in this big dark world.

Who will aid the ones who aid to all?

She is screaming, crying, wanting just some peace but how?

She is trying to stand tall but for how long will she have to do it alone?

Her family, her friends, her peers, no one is there to aid her and she keeps wondering is this because of the mask she wears or because she is just so invisible?

So just for once she lets down the mask, she shows the world her pain,

But it is to much for them to handle.

They call her crazy and delusional,

They run from her as if she is the monster.

Abandoning her when she needs them the most,

So, she builds a heavier and tougher mask,

Keeps all her emotions on a lock, away from everyone so no one ever abandons her.

She plays her part even when her suffering is picking her apart minute by minute,

She is being as strong as she can.

Weathering away, becoming a shell of what she used to be,

She just needs one person to hold her and wipe her tears,

But it seems that it is just too much to ask for.

But at the end of her painful tunnel she finds hope,

She finds the ones who will aid her.

So, she sets down her mask, she lets it all out,

She unburdens and unleashes all her monsters that she carries.

She waits for them to run, but they stay.

They give her their strength, they give her their love, they are the ones who stayed.

She stops weathering anymore, she doesn’t lock her emotions anymore,

She finds peace, she finds hope.

She goes back to herself,

Her lively, merry and oh so beautiful self, with a smile so bright that can light up the whole town.
