Sometimes the worst place you can be in, is your own head.

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

We have normalized the use of the word “depression” to such an extent that it has lost it’s true meaning and importance and that is the unfortunate truth. Depression has become a synonym for the word “sad”. In Fact being sad is nowhere near to being the same as being depressed. The first thing we should keep in mind while talking about a topic as sensitive as depression is that it’s neither a choice nor a phase. It is the feeling of helplessness which you might never know the cause of.It is a mental disorder and it should be given prime importance. The most terrifying impact of depression is the fact that you don’t control your thoughts, your thoughts control you.

It weakens you emotionally and psychologically , it wears you down to your bone and affects every aspect of your life. Winston Churchill called depression “the black dog”. His reasoning was simple: Like a hunting dog, it would always be nipping at his heels, following him. These negative thoughts will often hinder people's willingness to disclose their illness to health professionals and seek appropriate treatment. Throwing light on the adverse effects of mental disorders like depression is a part of making people aware about it, but seeking guidance and support is the most crucial factor in overcoming it. Our program is not only looking at raising awareness but also rekindling the hope of winning the battle against depression. We aim to form a platform that helps to reduce these negative stereotypes associated with mental health and show our support in creating an environment where people do not feel ashamed to seek help.

It is important to remember that mental health issues can affect people differently, no two people are the same.Instead of turning a blind eye towards someone, remember you might have no idea what they are going through because these are wounds that never show on the body but are deeper and more painful than anything that bleeds.
